This little duck was waiting for me in the parking lot on a much-needed water and ice run on 5 July. Thanks for the smiles.
Back where you found it, or somewhere better. A bus seat, a hotel lobby, the tray table on your next flight. Then it's their turn, and you're the one who made their day.
There's a name for this in Jewish tradition — gemilut chasadim, acts of loving-kindness. Gifts of your hands and your time. Handing a duck to someone who needs a smile is one of them, and it counts.
Also completely fine. Ducks are good company. Put it on a desk, a windowsill, a Shabbat table — and when you're ready to send it back out, you know where the map is.

Do I have to give the duck back?
Never — the duck is yours now. Set it on a windowsill, hand it to someone who needs a smile, or hide it somewhere new so a stranger gets the same surprise you did. However it goes, you kept it floating.
Do I need an account to add my sighting?
No account, no sign-up. Add a photo, where you found it, and a line about the moment, and send it over. We give every sighting a quick look before it lands on the map — no invented sightings, ever.
What if a kid found the duck?
Wonderful — that's often exactly who does. If they're under 13, a parent or teacher submits the sighting for them (our rule, and a good one).
